Sir Arthur Ignatius Conan Doyle, DL (22 May 1859 – 7 July 1930) was a Scottish author most noted for his stories about the detective Sherlock Holmes, which are generally considered a major innovation in the field of crime fiction, and for the adventures of Professor Challenger. He was a prolific writer whose other works include science fiction stories, historical novels, plays and romances, poetry, and non-fiction.

Joachim Clemens Fest (December 8, 1926–September 11, 2006), German historian, journalist, critic and editor, is best known for his writings and public commentary on Nazi Germany, including an important biography of Adolf Hitler and books about Albert Speer and the German Resistance. He was a leading figure in debate among German historians about the Nazi period.

Major-General John Dutton (Johnny) Frost, CB, DSO and Bar, MC, (December 31, 1912 - May 21, 1993) was a British airborne officer best known for being the leader of the small group of airborne forces that actually got to Arnhem bridge (Operation Market Garden). He was one of the first to join the newly formed Parachute Regiment and served with distinction in many airborne operations until he was injured at Arnhem.
